FC Dallas v Houston Dynamo: Hosts 'psyched' for Texas derby
FC Dallas host the Houston Dynamo in a Texas derby in MLS on Saturday, with just three points separating the rivals.
Anderson Julio claims the FC Dallas squad are "psyched" for a Texas derby against the Houston Dynamo.
Dallas have been unable to build on a 4-3 win over Inter Miami in recent weeks, suffering a 5-0 defeat to San Diego FC before drawing 1-1 with Real Salt Lake.
However, a clash with Houston presents a good chance to get back on track.
Three points separate the teams, with Dallas sitting ninth in the Western Conference, three places above the Dynamo.
Julio netted Dallas' goal in the draw against Salt Lake, and said: "I think the team is psyched and that we have the Texas derby at home with our people, we want the win.
"We are going to go out and give it our all to win the derby again and hopefully we will have a favourable result for us.
"There are still many games ahead and the message to the fans is to keep supporting us. We are also going to give everything of ourselves on the field.
"The fans play an important role more than anything when we play at home and we have to give them a win next week."
Dallas coach Eric Quill believes his team are getting back close to full strength after dealing with injuries.
He said: "We’ll keep pushing those players to where they feel comfortable. With healthy players returning, the environment will soon be very competitive.
"Our depth will energise us, especially taking a look at the upcoming schedule. You can expect to see those players back on the field again."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
FC Dallas - Anderson Julio
Julio's goal took him onto three for the season in MLS.
That tied him level with Lucho Acosta and Petar Musa at the top of Dallas' scoring charts, with only Acosta (eight) having had more shots on target than Julio (six) in the league for Dallas this term.
Houston Dynamo - Ezequiel Ponce
Ponce could not have much of an impact against Minnesota United last time out, though Houston did still manage to get all three points.
The Argentine is the Dynamo's leading scorer, with three MLS goals.
MATCH PREDICTION: DRAW
Dallas are unbeaten in five league games against the Dynamo.
Indeed, they won the last meeting, triumphing 2-1 away from home in February.
However, Dallas have only managed one win from their last six MLS games, picking up six points in total.
Houston are in slightly better form, having collected eight points from the last 18 on offer.
