Vitinha urges PSG to 'aim even higher' with 2026 aspirations
Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed a record-breaking 2024-25 season, and Vitinha is hoping to finish this campaign in even better style.
Vitinha has challenged Paris Saint-Germain to "aim even higher" next year and build on their historic 2025.
PSG won the treble last season, following up their Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles with a first-ever Champions League triumph.
With 84 points, PSG set the record for points in an 18-team Ligue 1 season. They also had the best average points per game (2.47) in Europe's top five leagues last term.
Then, in the Champions League, they recorded a 5-0 win over Inter, the biggest-ever margin of victory in the final of the competition. They became the ninth different European side to win the treble and the first French side to do so.
In July, PSG also reached the Club World Cup final, only to lose 3-0 to Chelsea in the final, but have started 2025-26 strongly.
Luis Enrique's side are second in Ligue 1 heading into the new year, just one point behind leaders Lens, while they are third in the Champions League table, though are not yet sure of an automatic qualification spot.
PSG lifted six trophies overall this calendar year, adding the Trophee des Champions, the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup to their treble.
And Vitinha, who placed third in the 2025 Ballon d'Or standings after an impressive campaign, believes that PSG can do even better in 2026.
"Can we call it a perfect season? Yes, or almost," he told Marca.
"We can regret not winning the Club World Cup, but the truth is that we were once again there at the decisive moment after an exceptional tournament, and we narrowly missed out. And also, because Chelsea were better, it has to be said.
"But 2025 was a perfect year, or almost, and I'm very happy to have had such a great season with the whole team.
"Now, we have to keep this momentum going, aim even higher, and if possible, do better than these six titles."
PSG are currently given an 87.3% chance of lifting the Ligue 1 title again at the end of the season, according to the Opta supercomputer, while their hopes of winning a second consecutive Champions League crown sit at 10%, making them fourth favourites.
