Tanguy Nianzou believes Lille are the perfect club to help him get back to his best after signing a two-year deal from Sevilla.

Nianzou also has the option of extending his contract for a further year as he links up with Davide Ancelotti's team.

The defender, who has also previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, made 62 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla after joining in August 2022.

He managed just 12 games in 2025-26, all of which came in LaLiga, but won 45 of the 75 duels he contested, as well as coming out on top in eight of his 14 tackles.

"The overwhelming emotion is pure joy. I'm incredibly happy to have had this opportunity to sign with LOSC, which I believe is the ideal club for the next stage of my career and offers the perfect environment to develop," Nianzou told the club's website.

"The most important thing for me is to regain my full confidence, my smile, playing time, and thus be able to help the team win.

"My discussions with the president have always been very clear. He told me upon my arrival that we work differently here; I'm here, too, to bring my own unique perspective."

Nianzou was part of the Sevilla team that won the Europa League in 2022-23 and also won a Ligue 1 title with PSG as well as two Bundesliga crowns while at Bayern.

Lille finished the 2025-26 Ligue 1 campaign in third, securing Champions League football. Their first competitive outing under Ancelotti will be away to Angers on August 23.
