Norwich support turn on Manning as high-flying Hull head into play-off race
Liam Manning's future at Norwich City remains under serious doubt after another home defeat to Hull City on Saturday.
Norwich City's horrendous run at Carrow Road continued as Hull City surged into the Championship play-off race with a 2-0 win in Saturday's early kick-off.
Liam Manning and the Norwich board were subject to repeated chants of frustration as Norwich suffered a sixth defeat in as many home games in the league.
Josh Sargent passed up a glorious opportunity early on, only for Joe Gelhardt's second-half strike – his fourth in as many matches – to edge the high-flying Tigers ahead.
Substitute Darko Gyabi then converted on the rebound with just minutes remaining for his first Hull goal, sealing an impressive victory and moving Sergej Jakirovic's side onto six games unbeaten.
The in-form Tigers now sit fifth in the Championship table, before Saturday's later action.
Elsewhere in the early kick-offs, there was more home frustration as Blackburn Rovers stunned Leicester City with a 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.
Andri Gudjohnsen scored in either half for the visitors, who climbed up to 19th with a much-needed away win.
For Leicester, Marti Cifuentes may be running out of time after seeing his side fail to win for a fourth straight Championship game, leaving them 11th.
Just a short journey away from Leicester, West Brom were held to a goalless draw with struggling Sheffield Wednesday.
A third straight game without victory in England's second division left the Baggies 10th, while Wednesday are bottom after their points deduction.
Data Debrief: Hull earn rare Carrow Road success
Hull had won just one of their 13 away league games against Norwich since 1972 (D3 L9), a 2-0 success at Carrow Road in September 2010.
But the Tigers ended that drab run with yet another battling performance, having rode their luck as Norwich accumulated 2.52 expected goals (xG) to Hull's 1.26.
That will not matter for the visitors as pressure grows on Manning, who has picked up just eight points through their opening 13 Championship matches this season (W2 D2 L9).
