An "ecstatic" Sam Querrey felt his performance in break points proved crucial in his shock victory over defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic
Querrey held a two-set lead when the match when was held over due to rain on Friday, but Djokovic came out fighting and won four successive games en route to halving the deficit by winning the third set on Saturday.
However, the match continued to be punctuated by rain breaks, and the American world number 41 admitted it helped him regroup ahead of the fourth set.
Querrey subsequently complete a 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7-5) victory over 12-time grand slam winner, ending the Serbian's 30-match winning streak at majors and with it his hopes of a Grand Slam in 2016.
The American revelled in the outcome and stated allowing Djokovic to claim just three of the 17 break points that came his way was pivotal.
"It's incredible, especially here at Wimbledon one of the biggest tournaments in the world. I'm so ecstatic right now, so happy," Querrey said to BBC Sport.
"I think today I played the break points really well. Every time he had a break point I came up with a big serve.
"It was a fight in the tiebreaker and I got a couple of loose errors and that was about it.
"He came out and got the first four games, fortunately for me we got another rain delay and I got to regroup.
"He's on his way to being one of the best ever, so you know he's going to come back.
"I'm just taking it one round at time. I'm not even sure who I play next, so I'm going to enjoy this."
Nicolas Mahut is the man who awaits Querrey as he looks to go beyond the fourth round of a major for the first time.
