PSG linked with bid for Lyon's Houssem Aouar as Tuchel warns that Mbappe and Neymar are not enough to carry club
A little like Ronald Koeman at Barcelona, Thomas Tuchel has experienced six seasons of CRISIS! in six weeks.
Some have had a 2020: Year of Hell twist with key players in his team testing positive for COVID. This lead to PSG being defeated in the first two league matches of the season and subsequently losing key players for fighting and spitting during the Le Classique defeat against Marseille.
Looking at you, Angel di Maria who starts a four-match suspension today.
And Neymar. Again.
Now, with just three days left until the transfer window closing, Thomas Tuchel is sounding the alarm on a new crisis around the corner - PSG simply not being up to the job of repeating the feats of last season which saw a Ligue 1 title win and a run to the 2020 Champions League final.
Over the summer, PSG saw four first team players leaving including Thiago Silva and Edinson Cavani. To date, just one major reinforcement has been made in the form of Italian fullback Alessandro Florenzi.
While, PSG boasts a forward line of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Mauro Icardi and Angel di Maria - when there are no suspensions - Tuchel is concerned that the squad is paper thin everywhere else.
"If we stay like this, with this reduced squad, we cannot expect to have the same objectives," announced the German coach on Friday ahead of Friday's Ligue 1 clash against Angers.
It's a message to his bosses that reinforcements are needed but time is definitely running out.
"I do not know if we will sign another player," admitted Tuchel, "we have to wait… For the moment, we do not have the same quality (as before)."
One of the players that PSG has reportedly being pursuing is Tottenham's Dele Alli, however that trail appears to have gone cold with the playmaker set to be staying with Jose Mourinho. However, there might be one last swoop over the weekend with reports that PSG is plotting to bring Lyon's Houssem Aouar to the French capital.
Although Arsenal is said to be bidding for the midfielder, Aouar is reportedly not so keen on the move, so PSG could be a distinct possibility for the 22-year-old, who is on the for-sale list at cash-strapped Lyon.
The Sports Burst live show will get the latest news straight from Paris at 12PM ET. on our beIN SPORTS USA Facebook page and XTRA channel.

Ansu Fati called up to Spain as Dest lives the dream
Sporting life just gets better and better for Ansu Fati.
The 17-year-old Barcelona is now a fully-fledged first-team starter alongside Lionel Messi, has three goals in two games for the Camp Nou club and has once again being brought into Spain's latest squad by Luis Enrique.
Still, that's just a normal day for Fati now.
Friday will be one to remember for American fullback Sergino Dest. A day after officially signing for Barcelona, Dest was presented at the Camp Nou and will now have to wait and see if he makes it into the squad that will take on Sevilla in Sunday's mega match in LaLiga.
The fullback has already pledged footballing to Leo Messi on the pitch in an interview done with the Dutch media. "I'll end up with no oxygen in my lungs in every game for Leo Messi," declared a happy camper to 'De Telegraaf'.
Barcelona against Sevilla is live on beIN SPORTS on Sunday with coverage beginning at 2:30PM ET with Sergino Dest potentially becoming the first American to play in an official match for Barcelona.
