Sports Burst - The State Of The Clasico Union
Two eternally feuding foes gather for Copa de Rey as El Clasico kicks off in the Camp Nou between Barcelona and Real Madrid
by Tim Stannard
The biggest rivalry in club soccer in the Camp Nou as Barcelona and Real Madrid clash
Two sides.
Eternally divided in the past, present and future but gathered in one place for one night of disagreement, disunity, rivalry and rancor.
One half clad in shining white, the other in a darker hue.
Two factions refusing to give in, agreeing to disagree. Applauding with giddy abandon while the enemy sits in silence.
An event watched across the globe, with instant commendation and condemnation across the internet.
A divisive leader, adored by some for his brashness, instinctive skills and indestructibility, but loathed by others for his narcism, vulgarity, insecurity and opaque manner of filing taxes.
A leader with an orange hue and peculiar never-moving hair.
Actually, scratch that. Cristiano Ronaldo has long gone but El Clasico is here!
It's the first of a three Clasico event in 25 days between the fierce foes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. And it all gets underway on beIN SPORTS with coverage beginning at 2:30PM ET / 11:30AM.
Barcelona wait on Leo Messi as Solari coaches for Real Madrid future
For those who have not being paying too much attention to the worlds of Barcelona and Real Madrid, then shame on you, and off you head to the naughty step. But here's a primer anyway.
The scene today is the Camp Nou and the event is the Copa del Rey semifinal first-leg, a game that will see three Clasicos in 25 days with the return match and also a decisive game in La Liga.
For Barcelona, a team with a clear lead at the top of the La Liga standings, the match is another opportunity to laud an apparent superiority over Real Madrid and burst a recent form bubble for the opponents.
The only doubt for the hosts is the fitness of Lionel Messi, with a late decision being made on the footballer's participation in the grand event.
The match is the start of a true gauntlet for visiting Real Madrid - the beginning of an intense period of football that will define the future of coach Santiago Solari as he faces Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Ajax all in a row.
Success and Solari might see out at least another season on the Bernabeu bench. Failure, and the search for a fourth Real Madrid manager in a year will begin.

Oh, and if El Clasico merely works as an appetizer, then the Copa Libertadores continues on beIN SPORTS after El Clasico as Palestino hosts Independiente Medellin.
PSG looks for form and figure in Coupe de France clash
Sports Burst is getting ahead of itself here.
El Clasico is not an appetizer. Heck no, It's the main dish, of course. That's because one of the most thrilling clubs in the world is an appetizer. An expensive one at that.
That side is PSG, which is in action in the Coupe de France against Villefranche from the third tier of French football.
Now, this might look like a walk in the park for PSG, whilst clutching baguette and some brie. However, the tie is away from home, PSG has been rattled by recent losses in the Coupe de la Ligue and Ligue Un and the injured Neymar is not about to call on with a bit of magic. There might even be a few lingering side effects from the Brazilian's big birthday bash on Monday.
Find out what happens next by tuning into beIN SPORTS at 12:25PM ET / 9:25AM PT.
Manchester City with chance to leap over Liverpool in EPL title race
The Premier League title race will take another turn on Wednesday as Manchester City plays Everton. Both City and table-topping Liverpool have been showing signs of nerves of late with points dropped a plenty.
But Pep Guardiola's men do have chance to move to the top of the standings today, all be it on goal difference and with a game in hand with an away match at Everton.
That might sound challenging, but the hosts' campaign is fading fast under Marco Silva with three defeats in four in the EPL in Goodison Park.
