Sports Burst - Miazga Stands Tall Against Mexico
USMNT win feisty Mexico match-up as Richarlison runs rampant for Brazil
Miazga makes headlines in US match-up over Mexico
In a continuation of the kind of jovial, avuncular, and loving treatment that Mexicans have received from the USA over the past 21-months or so, USMNT defender Matt Miazga managed to break a little part of the internet that was still intact with a mean, mocking taunt over a Mexican rival.
After a tussle on the ball and a subsequent squaring-up, the current Nantes stopper noted that he was a good four or so feet higher than his sparring partner, Diego Lainez, to set off another internet meme streak.
The dominance in height of the US in this particular battle was matched out on the field with a 1-0 victory over Mexico in Nashville, Tennessee, thanks to 19-year-old Tyler Adams ending a perfectly-timed run with a perfectly-timed finish to inflict a fourth consecutive defeat on Mexico, the side's worst run in 17 years.
"You want to be in the middle of games like that...ones that are chippy," beamed the New York Red Bulls midfielder on a feisty clash that saw USMNT's youth being given a chance and taking it.
Richarlison stars in Brazil battering of El Salvador
Elsewhere in a remarkably busy night of international soccer on USA soil, Brazil polished off its footballing punch bag on Tuesday with a 5-0 warm-up win over El Salvador in FedEx Field.
Everton's feuding, fearsome forward, Richarlison, took full advantage of a debut with Brazil with a brace that was opened by an absolute screamer. Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Marquinhos were also on the score-sheet in the victory.
No such luck for Argentina which is still struggling badly despite a shakeup of the team once again. Paulo Dybala was dropped from the starting line-up in a side that played out a 0-0 against Colombia in the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. "Sooner or later it will come," promised Mauro Icardi who played a fifth game for the Albiceleste without a goal.
Real Madrid 6-1 Barcelona in Croatia crushing
The one man who would have been prepared for a Barcelona versus Real Madrid question after Spain's truly emphatic 6-0 victory over Croatia is the head coach, Luis Enrique.
After all, the former Barca boss is one of those lucky souls to have played for both teams and understand personally the deep bonds of friendship that exist between the two sets of fans.
Naturally, one of the questions to Enrique after the huge win concerned the fact that there were six Real Madrid players in the starting eleven against the World Cup finalists on Tuesday and just the single Barcelona representative, lonely Sergio Busquets. "I only see one jersey, that of the national team," boomed Enrique.
Aside from that quibble, Wednesday's reaction in Spain's papers is effulgent to say the least with Marca yelling 'Bravooooo' on the front cover and Sport boasting that "the future is here."

Paolo Dybala linked with Manchester United in transfer tall story
Time for a quick dip into transfers past and future.
Jerome Boateng has revealed that he was indeed offered the chance to jump ship to Manchester United but declined politely telling Jose Mourinho that he was quite happy at Bayern Munich. "I told him that his interest was an honor to me" declared Boateng.
Elsewhere in Manchester United news and a story that will gladden the hears of suffering fans for a few seconds before realization sets in that the transfer will never happen. That move is one being touted in Calciomercato which is putting Paolo Dybala in Old Trafford in January for over $100 million.
