Spain Turns Its Back on Fernando Torres
Fernando spurned by Spain, Nicolas Cage's Atletico masterplan, and no news on the future of Zlatan. Sports Burst! It's the turkey bacon of sporting round-ups - just as tasty, and much better for you!

1) Nando unwanted by Del Bosque, as Godin reveals Champions League master plan
What is a striker to do? Fernando Torres ticks every box for Spain - proven goalscoring record in tournaments for his country. Sharp as a knife for his club. Hair still looks mighty fine. And the deliverer of some huge goals for Atletico Madrid that drove the team to the brink of the league title and also the Champions League final.
Not enough for Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque though, who has left out both Torres and Diego Costa out of Spain's provisional squad for Euro 2016. Included though are Ariz Aduriz (probably fair), Pedro (seriously?) and Nolito (jury's out).
Nando's Atletico teammate, Diego Godin - looking a little Nicolas Cage? - has claimed that watching Barcelona win the league title on Sunday was a little easier than Real Madrid. Stands to reason. The Uruguayan stopper also revealed a shock tactical approach to the Champions League final with their city neighbors. "We will put in a very tactical and physical game," revealed Godin, stunning no-one.
2) Zlatan makes news with non-move to Manchester United and Mourinho is still on the shelf
ZLATAN NEWS! It's time for the daily update on the next move of the great King Zlatan as he looks for a spot on football's iron throne.
On Monday, it was Napoli on the airwaves...nonsense of course. But on Tuesday, a potential move to Manchester United is the talk of Zlatan City, although stories of an offer from the Old Trafford outfit have been poo-pooed by His agent, Mino Raiola. "The story is not factual," said Raiola. But that doesn't make it wrong. Does it?
Someone else reporting that there is no news to report about a move to Manchester United is Jose Mourinho. "With nobody," was the response from the Unemployed One questioned on if he had done a deal to move to the wet and wind of England's Northwest.
3) Derby County attempt mission impossible in play-offs as Rafa looks to be permanent Newcastle gaffer
Sheffield Wednesday booked their spot in the Championship play-off final with a 1-1 draw on England's south coast for a 3-1 aggregate win over a distraught Brighton.
Hull City are halfway there to the promised land of Wembley as well, with the Tigers 3-0 up against Derby County and playing at home to boot. Tune in at 2.40PM ET for Hull City versus Derby live on beIN SPORTS.
In other Championship news - sorry Newcastle United fans - Rafa Benitez is reportedly close to signing on at St. James Park to lead the Toon back into the EPL. In return the former Real Madrid manager would expect to gain huge control of the club's future planning from top to bottom.
Manchester United's rescheduled EPL match with Bournemouth takes place on Tuesday with much mud in the water over how a bomb-like training device was left in the Old Trafford toilets, which caused the abandoning of Sunday's game.
Catch the highlights on the XTRA at 10PM ET in its new sexy bite-sized half an hour format.
4 ) Tokyo Olympics still dealing with corruption case after official calls for confidentiality
FIFA CORRUPTION NEWS! Sorry, wrong international sporting organization. The head of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics bid has refused to give details on a $2 million payment to a Singapore company linked with the son of the former IOC member and IAAF head, Lamine Diack. Stay with us, here. Tsunekazu Takeda told the Japanese parliament that he is bound by confidentiality rules.
5) Big name withdraws from Giro as pain begins to bite
Ding, Ding! Cyclists on the Giro d'Italia don't have bells. But if they did, then they would have been ringing with delight as Stage 9 of the race got underway after Monday's rest.
The day has already seen one major event with a pre-race favorite and Team Sky leader, Mikel Landa, abandoning the tour due to illness and pretty much hating every second of the race. Catch the stage highlights and analysis on the XTRA at 10PM ET. Or tune in right now, as it is live on beIN SPORTS! If is still morning where you are.
