Ronaldo picks up Messi’s gauntlet, rain, rain go away in Manchester and UEFA goes for House Slytherin. 5 magic charms in the Muggle world of sport.

1) Ronaldo faces 1st ever team as he looks to match Messi magic
It's Ronaldo v Messi part 12,553.
Little Leo laid down a gauntlet of goals at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night with a hat-trick to bury hapless Celtic seven goals to zero. Now CR7 has a chance to reply. But the big booming goal celebration or torso-teasing shirt-ripping might be absent on Wednesday, as Real Madrid are taking on his first club Sporting CP. And that game is live on beIN SPORTS Canada from 2:45PM ET / 11:45AM PT. Find out if Ronaldo can go against all his instincts.
2) Man City make second CL debut as Leicester City enjoy European Vacation
Manchester is a city that has produced some of the most soulful, but doleful music in the world thanks to bands such as The Smiths and Joy Division. That's largely down to the relentless rain which poured down on the Etihad on Tuesday to see Manchester City's clash against Borussia Monchengladbach postponed to Wednesday. The forecast for today is generally nice, with the odd isolated shower.
3) Leicester head to CL debutante ball
Elsewhere, Leicester City are making their Champions League debut in Bruges, Tottenham Hotspur take on Monaco in Wembley Stadium, and there is a tantalizing clash over in Turin with Juventus hosting the madcap Sevilla. Catch all the best highlights in the one-stop shop of joy, the XTRA at 7PM ET and then tune into the Locker Room straight after where our panelists will rate and slate round one. Watch out Edinson!
4) UEFA appoint new big boss as Platini claims clear conscience
UEFA's new head honcho may have a Professor Snape vibe about him, but Aleksander Ceferin, is now in charge of the money-making organization that runs European football, and the Champions League.
The 48-year-old won UEFA's presidential election on Wednesday to officially take the place of Michel Platini. The big gripe for the Slovenian eurocrat will be to dig into the decision to award the continents four top leagues, four automatic places in the Champions League, a move that will impact countries like...Slovenia.
Meanwhile, Michel Platini spoke to the UEFA Congress to say he regretted ‘rien’ about his tenure.
5) Bacca confirms near miss with PSG as Cesc heads to Milan in winter window
Another story to warm the souls of PSG fans still fuming over the concept of Edinson Cavani after Tuesday’s miss-fest against Arsenal in the Champions League.
Last week, Neymar’s agent was claiming that he turned down the chance to move to the Ligue Un club for megabucks. Now, it’s the turn of Carlos Bacca in a PSG near-miss. The chance to reunite with Unai Emery could not happen due to too many non-EU players in the Parisian squad.
Speaking of Milan, Bacca might have some good news at the eternally struggling club. Cesc Fabregas is set to join the San Siro side in the January window. Then again, that might turn out to be bad news.
