Javier Mascherano has officially announced his retirement after Estudiantes de La Plata's 1-0 loss to Argentinos Juniors and after 17 years of service playing for clubs such as River Plate, Corinthians, West Ham United, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Hebei China Fortune.
The 36-year-old is Argentina's most capped player in the country's history with 148 appearances.
