Manchester United Makes Louis Van Gaal Sacking Official
Manchester United has sacked Louis van Gaal as manager and is expected to replace him with Jose Mourinho.
Louis van Gaal has been sacked as Manchester United manager after two years in charge, the club announced on Monday.
The former Netherlands boss arrived at the club's training ground in Carrington shortly before 9 a.m. and was informed that his contract would be terminated a year early, with the club later confirming the news in a statement.
Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said: "I would like to thank Louis and his staff for their excellent work in the past two years culminating in winning a record-equaling 12th FA Cup for the club.
"He has behaved with great professionalism and dignity throughout his time here. He leaves us with a legacy of having given several young players the confidence to show their ability on the highest stage. Everyone at the club wishes him all the best in the future."
The club added that a decision on Van Gaal's successor would be announced soon.
