The rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi has spewed from the pitch out to the outside world, at least, according to one report gaining steam on the internet. 

The Barcelona forward allegedly "one-upped" his Real Madrid counterpart with his latest purchase. 

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Lionel Messi had splashed the cash on a beautiful 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti. It was rumored that Cristiano Ronaldo was also interested in that same car, but was outbid by Messi. 

And finally, after much wait, the Ballon d'Or winner revealed the truth to the rumors with a very dignified response:
