Rory McIlroy Throws Punches In Direction Of Irish Boxers On Twitter
After a cheeky tweet aimed at Rory McIlroy, two Irish boxers competing at Rio 2016 managed to get a reply from the four-time major winner.
Rory McIlroy has responded to two Irish boxers after being mocked by the duo on Twitter.
Ireland flagbearer Paddy Barnes and compatriot Michael Conlan, who are eyeing gold in Rio, have been doing the rounds and getting selfies with various competitors.
And one tweet from Barnes was directed at McIlroy - who pulled out of the Games citing fears over the Zika virus, but made no secret of his cynicism regarding golf's inclusion - as he posed for a picture with the four-time major winner's ex-fiancee Caroline Wozniacki, suggesting they "make a great couple".
Barnes and Conlan - who himself had taken aim at McIlroy in another tweet where he was pictured with Rickie Fowler - gave kudos to the 27-year-old for being able to take a joke, bringing an apparent end to their friendly Twitter sparring session.
