Marseille vs. Lens Postponed Due to COVID-19
The LFP has postponed Friday's Ligue 1 matchday 9 game due to an outbreak of positive tests within Lens' squad.
The decision will see the newly promoted side sidelined for a second straight week after their matchday 8 fixture against Nantes was also postponed due to a number of positive tests.
A statement from Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) read: "After the opinion of the national COVID FFF commission, noting the certain absence of more than 10 players on the list of 30 RC Lens players due to a positive RT-PCR test for its match against Olympique de Marseille, the Competitions Commission of the LFP, acting within the framework of article 2.4.2.2 of the protocol for the organization of matches for the 2020-21 season, decides that the Ligue 1 Uber Eats matchday 9 game between Olympique de Marseille and RC Lens, originally scheduled for Friday, October 30 at 9 p.m., will be postponed until a later date."
Rens confirmed the news on Twitter: "RC Lens takes note of the LFP's decision to postpone the match against Marseille scheduled for Friday, October 30. This decision by the LFP was motivated by the results of tests for coronavirus infection carried out within Lens squad."
