Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is set to miss the Champions League tie with Real Madrid as he will undergo surgery on a fractured foot.
Neymar will undergo surgery on a fractured foot, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed.
The Brazilian star suffered a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle after rolling awkwardly during Sunday's Ligue 1 clash with Marseille.
According to a statement on the club's website, the player will travel to his native Brazil to undergo surgery later this week.
"After an initial treatment period of three days inline with a strict medical protocol, a joint decision has been taken between the medical staffs of both Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team.
In accordance with the player, it has been decided that Neymar Jr will undergo surgery in Brazil at the end of this week.
He will be operated on by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, accompanied by Professor Saillant, representing PSG."
No time frame has been given with regards for Neymar's recovery, but the likelihood is he will be sidelined for at least six weeks, leaving the Ligue 1 side without its record-signing for next Tuesday's second leg encounter with Real Madrid in the Champions League Last 16.
