Boca Request CONMEBOL to Suspend Copa Libertadores Final
Boca Juniors have officially requested that CONMEBOL reschedule the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final until "equal terms" have been restored.
Boca Juniors have released a statement requesting for Sunday's rescheduled game against River Plate to be suspended once again, until "equal terms" have been restored.
The second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between the two Argentine clubs was set to be played on Saturday, however, violent scenes outside El Monumental put a halt to proceedings.
As the visitors' bus made its way towards River Plate's stadium it was showered with projectiles, with some smashing windows of the vehicle.
Pablo Perez was among the Boca players injured in the incident, which initially led to a delayed kick-off and later the announcement of a postponement.
The club's statement read: "After the acts of violence suffered outside the stadium, having noted its magnitude and gravity, and its resulting affects on the squad, Boca Juniors believes the conditions (of playing a fair match) have not been satisfied and requests for the game to be suspended."
Meanwhile, River Plate have announced that the stadium will be open to fans at 13:00 local time (11:00am ET) and that ticket holders for yesterday's suspended game will be granted admittance.
