Former University of Miami and North Carolina head coach Butch Davis has reportedly been hired to take over as head coach at Florida International University.
Davis, whose career has been marked with success and controversy, also coached in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns earlier this decade.
The Golden Panthers have had a see-saw season starting 0-4, before firing coach Ron Turner and then rebounding with interim Ron Cooper.
Both The Miami Herald and Sun Sentinel reported that the hiring includes a 5-year contract although financial terms have not been announced.
A press conference to make the move official has been scheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at FIU.
