Match Report
Sevilla stunned Manchester United thanks to a brace from Tunisian striker Wissam Ben Yedder, to dump last seasons Europa League winners out of the Champions League. The substitute silenced Old Trafford with goals on the 74th and 78th minute. United pulled a goal back through Lukaku with six minutes to play to set-up a grandstand finish, however, the challenge proved too much for Mourinho's men who lost the tie 2-1 on aggregate.
In truth, United lacked attacking intent for vast swathes of the two-legged content and allowed Sevilla to get into the tie. Many expected United to dominate the second leg at Old Trafford however, the Red Devils struggled to get to grips with the tie in the first half. United's loss was Sevilla's gain and the Spanish side had a host of pot-shots from distance in the opening 45. With Luis Muriel & Steven N'Zonzi both guilty of shanking shots wide.
United came out reinvigorated in the second half, Lingard came close with a drilled shot which was well saved by Rico. The introduction of Pogba proved to be a turning point in the game. The momentum that United had from the early moments of the second half slowed down, although Pogba did curl a shot wide, as United attempted to force the issue. However, on the 74th minute, Sevilla took full advantage on the break.
Sarabia played a perfect ball through the United defence to substitute Ben Yedder. The Tunisian took one touch and drilled the ball into the bottom right-hand corner, just out of the reach of De gea. United needed two goals to progress and pushed forward. Just four minutes later, Sevilla doubled their advantage from a corner. Ben Yedder was again on hand at the far-post and headed powerfully towards goal. de Gea did his best to get the ball away, but it was well over and Sevilla had one foot in the Champions League quarterfinals.
United pulled one back as Lukaku volleyed in from Mata's cross, and needed two goals to progress. Mourinho's men gave it their best shot, with Marcus Rashford and Chris Smalling heading wide at the very death. However, the night belonged to Sevilla who set up perfectly on the break to defeat United. A place in Friday's quarter-final draw now awaits for Montella's side, whilst Mourinho will rue that his side didn't go on the front foot earlier in the contest.

Four sides will discover their Champions League fates as they face-off in their round of 16-second leg ties. Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will be confident of getting a result at home against Sevilla, however, the Portuguese boss was quick to play down his side's chances of going all the way. "I think we are not one of the best teams in the competition, I think that when a team arrives in the last eight anything can happen.”
"When you are in the last 16 it looks really, really far [away] but when the team gets in the last eight you start smelling semi-finals. I think when a team gets into the last eight the feeling is you are [competing] among the best but anything can happen."
In team news, midfielder Paul Pogba is a doubt after missing the 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Whilst the quartet of Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo Daley Blind, and Ander Herrera will be absent through injury. Winger Anthony Martial could return to first-team contention after missing the last two games.

Sevilla impressed in the first leg, and should of perhaps of been heading into the match at Old Trafford with a 1-0 lead had it not been for the goalkeeping heroics of David de Gea. Vincenzo Montella’s team are aiming to buck the alarming trend of never winning a Champions League match in England having drawn 1 and lost their last 3 encounters.
In team news, Sevilla will be without Sebastien Corchia & Daniel Carrico for the Tuesday evening clash. Whilst former Man City man Jesus is unlikely to be fit in time as he recovers from a knock.
The Spanish side will be looking for a vital away goal and will be likely set up to strike on the counter. Columbian striker Luis Muriel impressed in the first-leg and his pace is going to be crucial if Los Rojiblancos are to pull off a shock victory to seal their place in the quarter-finals.
It certainly promises to be an interesting battle when Manchester United take on Sevilla for a place in the Champions League quarterfinals. You can watch all the action on beIN SPORTS CONNECT.
