Wozniacki looks to Wimbledon amid continued clay woes
After bowing out of the French Open, Caroline Wozniacki remains determined to end her clay hoodoo while also focusing on Wimbledon.
After Caroline Wozniacki's French Open struggles continued on Thursday, the defeated fifth seed maintained she can improve her clay game but said her focus now switches to Wimbledon.
The former world number one was beaten 6-4 7-6 (7-4) by Julia Goerges at Roland Garros as she failed to make it past the second round of the competition for a third year running.
It was her third defeat to the German on an unfavoured surface, but the Stuttgart Open finalist insists she has not given up on enjoying clay success in future.
Asked whether she believed had made improvements on the surface, Wozniacki said: "I do, I mean, I've won more matches on clay than in the past two years so that's progress - although that wasn't really hard to do.
"Stuttgart was faster so that helped me a bit more but again I just need to find a way to win here and I haven't done that.
"I'm still going to try find a way and keep improving here.
"You're never happy when you lose a match and I hoped better for myself so that's disappointing.
Looking ahead to Wimbledon and the grass-court season, Wozniacki added: "Wimbledon is next and as always I believe I can win it. Wimbledon suits my game better but I had bigger expectations for myself this week.
"I'm thinking Eastbourne and then Wimbledon. For now, that's my only preparation."
