Alexander Zverev bounced back from his French Open disappointment as he cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships, but Nicolas Mahut's stranglehold of the event came to an end.

Zverev saw an encouraging clay-court season in which he won tournaments in Munich and Rome end with a first-round defeat to Fernando Verdasco at the French Open.

But he quickly adjusted to life on grass in 's-Hertogenbosch, the second seed and world number 10 needing just 54 minutes to see off Adrian Mannarino 6-2 6-3.

Mahut, seeded seventh, has a brilliant record in Rosmalen having won the tournament in three of the past four seasons, including the last two.

However, he was beaten by French compatriot Julien Benneteau 3-6 6-2 6-2.

Fourth seed Gilles Muller toughed out a 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 win over Andreas Seppi, while eighth seed Aljaz Bedene saw off Ernesto Escobedo 6-3 6-4 for a place in the last eight.
