Angelique Kerber is confident she can combat the nerves when she attempts to pull of a repeat of her Australian Open triumph over Serena Williams in Saturday's Wimbledon final.

Kerber sensationally beat the world number one in Melbourne back in January to win her first grand slam title and deny Williams a record-equalling 22nd major crown.

Top seed Williams will get an opportunity to gain revenge at the All England Club this weekend after thrashing Elena Vesnina in a one-sided semi-final on Thursday.

Kerber beat Serena's sister Venus to reach her first Wimbledon final on a sunny day 10 on the grass in London.

And the fourth seed, looking relaxed in her media conference on Friday, is sure she can rise to the occasion at SW19 as she strives to become the first German woman since Steffi Graf 20 years ago to be crowned Wimbledon champion.

"It's the last match of the tournament. For sure I will be nervous like before every single match," said the 28-year-old. "But I think that right now I can handle it better.

"When I'm going on court, after the first few games, I think I will not be as nervous as before.

"It's a big day for me. I will try to go out and win it, of course. It's always tough against Serena, But I will try to take the experience from Australia and try to be a little bit more relaxed

"It's another tough match before me. I'm trying not thinking about this pressure, because I know that when I put too much pressure on myself, I will not play my best tennis.

"That's why I will go out there, try to enjoy the final, and not thinking about the pressure and everything around."

Kerber beat Williams 6-4 3-6 6-4 in the year's opening slam.
