Pliskova into top 10 at Radwanska's expense
A run to the Bank of the West Classic final in Stanford has ensured Karolina Pliskova a career-best ranking.
Karolina Pliskova has moved to a career-high position of eighth in the world rankings despite missing out on a fifth WTA title at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford on Sunday.
The Czech was edged out by Angelique Kerber in three sets, but now occupies a place in the world's top 10 for the first time, having moved up three places.
Agnieszka Radwanska makes way in the top 10. A quarter-final exit at the hands of Kerber in Stanford - in her second match since suffering defeat in the Wimbledon semi-finals - saw the Pole slip to 14th.
Kerber moves up to 11th as a result of her success.
Citi Open winner Sloane Stephens rises six places to 29th following her maiden WTA title in Washington, while finalist Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova jumps eight places to 32nd.
"Last year I was going through a learning process. I learned a lot about myself," explained Stephens after her win.
"And there's still a lot of room to grow. Sometimes you have to go through the process. To get to this place, to get to this beautiful trophy, I had to go through a lot, but at the end of the day it was definitely worth it."
