Murray set for first match as father in Davis Cup
Less than a month after becoming a father, Andy Murray will lead defending champions Great Britain in the Davis Cup.
Andy Murray will play his first match since becoming a father next week, leading defending champions Great Britain in their Davis Cup first-round tie with Japan.
Murray's last appearance on court came in his Australian Open final defeat to Novak Djokovic last month, with the world number two taking time off to be with his wife Kim Sears and daughter Olivia, who was born on February 7.
The 28-year-old almost single-handedly led Britain to a first Davis Cup title since 1936 in 2015, winning two singles rubbers and a doubles match in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final against Belgium.
And he has been named in Britain's five-man team to take on Japan at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham from March 4.
"Andy Murray has once again demonstrated his commitment to the team and his country in making himself available to play, especially so soon after becoming a father," Great Britain captain Leon Smith said.
"His outstanding performance at the Australian Open is further evidence that he is one of the world's best players."
Murray's brother Jamie, Kyle Edmund, Dan Evans and Dominic Inglot also feature on the team.
