Garbine Muguruza insists she will not become "obsessed" by winning Wimbledon and played down her chances at the All England Club.

The Spaniard enjoyed a memorable run to the final at SW19 one year ago, but fell short in a 6-4 6-4 defeat to Serena Williams on the famous grass.

However, Muguruza avenged that defeat by beating the world number one in the final of the French Open this month to clinch a first grand slam title.

The 22-year-old is being tipped to be a star at the top of the women's game for years to come and could even move top of the world rankings by winning Wimbledon if Serena Williams fails to reach the final.

But Muguruza is putting no pressure on herself to make it back-to-back slam victories.

"I feel good, I have great memories from last year at Wimbledon," she said in an interview with the WTA. 

"Wimbledon is one of the most special tournaments in tennis, a really traditional tournament.

"Honestly I have zero expectation. I'm going there try to continue what I felt at the French Open and try to match last year.

"I'm very ambitious I want to keep it going, but that's it. I'm not thinking [too much] or being obsessed with Wimbledon."

Muguruza also says that her experience in the Wimbledon final last year was influential in the Roland Garros showpiece.

"For sure [it helped]. I think not only that match but all the important matches I've played helped for that match," she added. 

"Especially as at the Wimbledon final I didn't do too well. I didn't want that to happen at the French Open so I was more concentrated."
