Kvitova hungry for more Fed Cup success
After leading Czech Republic to Fed Cup success 12 months ago, Petra Kvitova is determined to do it again against Russia this weekend.
Petra Kvitova says defending Fed Cup champions Czech Republic are desperate to continue their domination of the competition with a fourth title in five years against Russia.
The two-time Wimbledon champion has been an integral part of her country's success since 2011, having made her first Fed Cup appearance in 2007.
A settled team have helped the Czechs enjoy so much success, and another victory this weekend would see Kvitova and Lucie Safarova equal Helena Sukova's record of four titles.
"[Fed Cup] is always a big motivation," said Kvitova. "Especially when we are playing at home. Winning is the best feeling that you can have and we want to feel it again.
"We are proud already that we have won three but I think that we are in the history books already, and now we are focusing on the trophy and not history."
Czech Republic captain Petr Pala knows they face a tough challenge against Russia in Prague, and is wary of the threat posed by Maria Sharapova.
He said: "I expect a great tie and I think it's very even and very open.
"[Maria Sharapova] hasn't played in a Fed Cup final before but she has been to many finals, so we have to expect that she will be at her best.
"We know that when she steps on the court she just gives everything and tries to win, no matter what the score is, so I expect really close matches.
"We don't want to focus only on Maria because it's only one player and we have to win three matches."
