Ivo Karlovic served his way into the record books on Friday as 26 aces against Pablo Cuevas at the China Open took him to a record career tally.

The giant Croat's total aces now stands at a staggering 10,237, having moved 10 clear of previous record holder and compatriot Goran Ivanisevic.

In typical Karlovic fashion, Thursday's clash with Cuevas featured two tie-breaks, however the world number 37 from Argentina stood firm in the face of the raw power on the other side of the net to prevail 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (9-7).

Karlovic also holds the record for aces scored in a three-set match, having racked up 45 against Tomas Berdych in Halle earlier this year.
