Jankovic into Guangzhou final, Larsson exits Korea
The Guangzhou International Open final will pit defending champion Jelena Jankovic against Lesia Tsurenko.
Jelena Jankovic moved to within one win of a second straight Guangzhou International Open title by defeating Ana Konjuh 7-5 7-6 (9-7) in the semi-finals on Friday.
Second seed Jankovic is yet to drop a set in China and followed up her straight-sets victory over Sabine Lisicki with a hard-fought triumph over Konjuh.
Jankovic had to produce a brilliant comeback to avoid a decider, reeling in the Croatian's 4-1 lead to force a tie-break, where she staved off two break points before completing the win.
The Serbian will face Lesia Tsurenko in the final after the Ukrainian overcame Anna Kontaveit 6-4 6-2.
In the Korea Open, second seed Johanna Larsson fell to a 6-4 6-0 defeat to Lara Arruabarrena in a quarter-final encounter.
Spaniard Arruabarrena will take on Patricia Maria Tig in the semi-finals after the Romanian edged out Sara Sorribes Tormo 7-6 (7-2) 2-6 6-3.
The other last-four clash pits Monica Niculescu against Zhang Shuai, the pair seeded fifth and third respectively.
Niculescu overcame Jana Cepelova 6-4 6-2 while Zhang defeated Camila Giorgi 6-2 6-4.
