Jankovic ends trophy drought in Nanchang
Chang Kai-chen put in a valiant effort, but was unable to upset the odds as Jelena Jankovic triumphed at the Jiangxi Open.
Jelena Jankovic ended her WTA Tour trophy drought with a battling straight sets victory over Chang Kai-chen in Sunday's Jiangxi Open final.
Jankovic had failed to win a title on tour since triumphing in Bogota in February 2013, but her wait came to an end with a 6-3 7-6 (8-6) win at the hard-court tournament.
The world number 25 has been in superb form in Nanchang this week and did not drop a set throughout the tournament.
Jankovic - who beat her Taiwanese opponent at the 2012 Australian Open - did not have it all her own way, and was broken twice in a topsy-turvy opening set.
It appeared as though the second would be more straightforward when Jankovic had the opportunity to serve out the win at 5-3 up.
However, Chang - who has three victories over top-10 players - fought back to force the tie-break, but the 166-place difference in the rankings finally told as Jankovic sealed the win in just over two hours.
