Giorgi books third Katowice final
Two-time Katowice Open runner-up Camila Giorgi will meet Dominika Cibulkova in Sunday's final.
Camila Giorgi will hope it is third time lucky at the Katowice Open as she booked her final place against Dominika Cibulkova with a straight-sets win over Jelena Ostapenko.
Fifth seed Giorgi has battled for the title in Poland in the last two years, but has fallen at the final hurdle against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova and Alize Cornet.
She raced past Ostapenko on Saturday 6-4 6-3, Giorgi taking advantage of the third seed's service struggles to seal her final place in 76 minutes.
Next up is Cibulkova in Sunday's final after the Slovak eased past Pauline Parmentier 7-5 6-0, the eighth seed rarely troubled after a tight opening set.
Cibulkova saved four break points in that opener before eventually moving ahead, and she never looked back as she won eight games in a row to set up a clash with Giorgi – who she has not beaten in their two previous meetings.
