Errani makes Guangzhou exit, Larsson marches on in Korea
Viktorija Golubic ousted Sara Errani to reach the quarter-finals in Guangzhou, while Lara Arruabarrena was the only seed to lose in Korea.
Sara Errani is out of the Guangzhou International Women's Open after the top seed was beaten by Viktorija Golubic in the second round on Wednesday.
Errani saved five match points in her first-round win over outsider Han Xinyuan on Tuesday, but crashed out a day later when the unseeded Golubic prevailed 6-7 (7-9) 6-3 6-4.
Swiss Golubic broke the Italian nine times to pull off a surprise victory and earn a quarter-final against Estonia's Anett Kontaveit, who saw off Zhu Lin.
Danka Kovinic was another seed to bow out on day three, losing 6-3 7-5 to Jennifer Brady, but defending champion Jelena Jankovic made it through along with Ana Konjuh, Alison Riske, Sabine Lisicki and Lesia Tsurenko.
Second seed Johanna Larsson advanced to the last eight of the Korea Open by overcoming Kateryna Kozlova 6-3 1-6 6-2.
Zhang Shuai and Camila Giorgi also marched on, while Lara Arruabarrena won two tie-breaks to beat eighth seed Louisa Chirico.
