Novak Djokovic moved a step closer to completing a career clean sweep of ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles by easing to a 6-4 6-1 victory over Stan Wawrinka at the Western and Southern Open on Friday.

World number one Djokovic was denied a career Grand Slam by Wawrinka when the duo last met in the final of this year's French Open.

However, the Swiss was unable to prevent his rival from securing success in Cincinnati as Djokovic - seeking to become the first player to secure all nine Masters 1000 crowns - took little more than an hour to canter into the semi-finals.

Wawrinka only gave up one break-point opportunity in the first set, but it was clinically accepted.

And Djokovic then kicked on in set two, taking the Wawrinka serve on a further three occasions in a dominant display.

The last six meetings between Djokovic and Wawrinka have seen the victor go on to win the tournament.

Djokovic, who lost last week's Rogers Cup final to Andy Murray, will now face Tomas Berdych or Alexandr Dolgopolov in the last four.
