Novak Djokovic feels he will go into the French Open in the best form of his career after securing a fourth Masters title of 2015 in Rome.

The world number one extended his unbeaten run to 22 matches and claimed his fourth Internazionali d'Italia crown with a straight-sets victory over Roger Federer on Sunday.

Djokovic has not lost since Federer beat him in Dubai in February, and he hopes to continue his brilliant run at Roland Garros later this month.

"It was a great week, very exciting, and today was my best match," Djokovic said. "It's always a pleasure to play against Roger, and obviously I'm very pleased to have won.

"Along with 2011, this is the best year of my career. 

"I don't know if it will continue at Roland Garros, but obviously I have a lot of confidence and am enjoying playing. I hope I can continue like this."

For Federer it was a fourth final defeat in the Italian capital, but he was able to find plenty of positives from his impressive week.

"I know I can play better," said the 33-year-old. "Novak was rock solid today, he played great throughout. He made very few unforced errors. 

"[But] I'm happy, feeling good and healthy."
