Consistent Murray eyes US Open
World number three Andy Murray is preparing for a return to the hard courts, with the US Open looming.
Andy Murray has enjoyed a consistent season on the ATP Tour and the world number three is hoping to carry that form onto the hard courts as he bids to win a second US Open title.
Murray boasts a 48-7 win-loss record in 2015, having reached the Australian Open final, while the Briton has appeared in back-to-back semi-finals at the French Open and Wimbledon.
The 28-year-old - out of action since SW19 - is preparing to return to the court at the Citi Open in Washington as he gears up for the US Open, where he broke through for his first grand slam three years ago.
Speaking ahead of his tournament opener against either Teymuraz Gabashvili or Benjamin Becker on Wednesday, Murray said: "One of the things I spoke about at the beginning of the year was consistency. That has been a positive.
"The year as a whole, there has been some progress. Hopefully I get on a good run now on the hard courts to the end of the year.
"I've played well in all of the slams. The French Open was the best I've ever played on the clay and at Wimbledon Roger [Federer] played a really good match."
Murray has not taken to hard courts since April, when he lost to familiar foe Novak Djokovic in the final of the Miami Open.
"This morning was the first time that I started to feel more comfortable on the courts, get used to them again," he added.
"It takes quite a lot of time to get used to the conditions."
