Berdych surges into Stockholm semi-finals
Top seed Tomas Berdych had no problems seeing off Grigor Dimitrov to reach the last four of the Stockholm Open.
Tomas Berdych is into the last four of the Stockholm Open following a routine win over Grigor Dimitrov.
The top seed came through in an hour and 29 minutes against the fifth seed, prevailing 7-5 6-4 in the Swedish capital.
Berdych faced just two break points and won 85 per cent of his first serve points in a solid display, with a sole break in each set enough to set up a semi-final with Marcos Baghdatis.
Baghdatis outlasted eighth seed Gilles Muller to progress 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 6-3 after two hours and 24 minutes.
Second seed Richard Gasquet was also made to work hard for victory in the all-French quarter-final as he beat Jeremy Chardy in three sets.
Having seen Gasquet fight back from losing the first set to force a decider, Chardy displayed some resiliency of his own by breaking back to level the third at 5-5 and then stood firm to force a tie-break.
But world number 12 Gasquet's quality told in the shoot-out as he secured a 2-6 6-3 7-6 (7-4) success.
Gasquet will face Jack Sock in the last four after the American saw off another Frenchman in Gilles Simon, 7-5 7-6 (7-5).
