Berdych downs Sock to retain Stockholm title
Top seed Tomas Berdych claimed back-to-back Stockholm Open titles with a straight-sets win over Jack Sock.
Tomas Berdych successfully defended his Stockholm Open title on Sunday with a relatively comfortable straight-sets victory over Jack Sock.
Berdych only needed 85 minutes to wrap up the 7-6 (7-1) 6-2 win in the Swedish capital, continuing his good form heading into the ATP World Tour Finals next month.
The top seed was under pressure early on as Sock picked up an early break, however he was unable to convert it into a set lead as Berdych fought back.
Serving for the set in the 10th game put more pressure on the young American and he buckled, Berdych converting his second break point to bring proceedings back on serve.
In the resulting tie-break Berdych showed his class as Sock's challenge ebbed away, the Czech winning five successive points to edge ahead.
Sock never recovered from that disappointment as Berdych raced towards victory, only dropping four points on his own serve while breaking his opponent twice to wrap up the 12th the title of his career.
