Azarenka on a high ahead of Australian Open
Two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka will enter this year's event high on confidence after her Brisbane International win.
Victoria Azarenka cannot wait to begin her bid for a third Australian Open crown after ending her title drought in emphatic style at the Brisbane International.
Former world number one Azarenka has been hampered by injuries in recent years and went into Saturday's final against Angelique Kerber having not won a WTA Tour event since August 2013.
However, the Belarusian will now be favoured to fare well at Melbourne Park, where she triumphed in 2012 and 2013, after demolishing Kerber 6-3 6-1 to round off a dominant week.
"It feels really good. I'm just very excited to start the year like that and it's definitely satisfying," said Azarenka.
"I just feel happy. The result is a bonus too, but I feel happy being on the court. I enjoy playing. I love being healthy, so it's a blessing."
Azarenka will move up from her current world ranking of 22 and be seeded in the top 16 at the Australian Open.
"For me the most important [thing] is to try to get better and win more matches and that will definitely bring more points and better rankings," she added.
"But I'm just really excited to go to Melbourne, I love playing there.
"I had great success there and I can't wait to get there and prepare and start the tournament."
