Ciro Immobile joined the one hundred club of Serie A goalscorers as his brace helped Lazio opened up their Serie A campaign with an impressive 3-0 away win against Sampdoria.
Lazio pushed hard for an opener in the early exchanges and went close when Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's low shot was pushed away by Samp keeper Emil Audero. However, Immobile's deft lob opened up the scoring for the visitors seven minutes before the half-time break. It was the 100th goal for the Italian striker in Serie A
Into the second half and Sampdoria had Audero to thank again, this time denying Immobile with a decisive save one-on-one. As the hosts pushed to find parity, Lazio doubled their advantage. Joaquin Correa was expertly slid through by Luis Alberto and the former Samp player made no mistake.
Immobile completed an imperious display with his second goal of the game to put the contest beyond doubt. Latching onto a long-ball from Milinkovic-Savic, the Italian striker needed two chances to slot the ball past Audero and to start his side's campaign on a high.
