Napoli 0-2 Sassuolo: No luck for Gattuso's side as Napoli fall to 5th place
A highly anticipated game in Italian football fell in favor of the visitors Sassuolo as they drifted past Napoli 2-0 following goals from Manuel Locatelli and Maxime Lopez.
Napoli played the whole 90 minutes going forward, attempting 22 shots to Sassuolo's 6 however only 4 of the shots were actually on target. Playing without their star man Insigne proved to be much harder as it was clear his presence may have provided a different result in this game.
Sassuolo also had notable absences in Dominico Berardi and Francesco Caputo, who are heavily depended on for goals. This did not slow Sassuolo down as they managed to pick their spots efficiently.
The first goal of the game came early into the second half with Locatelli converting for a spot kick 56 minutes in.
Napoli attacked and attacked time and time again but were just unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
The best opportunity to get one back came late in the back with Manolas heading the ball in from a rebounded header from Osimhen, only to have it ruled for Offside by the latter's positioning.
Sassuolo managed to hold on very professionally coming into stoppage time and with there patience came a reward from Maxime Lopez as the young Frenchman cut across the field into the 12 yard spot and calmly finished off the game, securing his side the three points.
Napoli fall to 5th place following this defeat meanwhile Sassuolo move to second.
