Smith wins Rugby League World Golden Boot Award for second time
For the second time and first since 2007, Cameron Smith won the Rugby League World Golden Boot Award.
Australia and Melbourne Storm star Cameron Smith has been crowned the winner of the Rugby League World Golden Boot Award for the second time.
The 34-year-old hooker enjoyed another stellar year, including leading the Storm to the NRL premiership.
Smith helped Queensland claim yet another State of Origin series success, while the Kangaroos are into the Rugby League World Cup final, facing England Saturday.
He beat out Jason Taumalolo, Suliasi Vunivalu and Jermaine McGillvary for the award.
It marks the second time and first since 2007 that Smith has taken the annual prize, which is given to the world's best player as voted by international media.
Smith joins Johnathan Thurston (2011, 2013 and 2015), Andrew Johns (1999 and 2001) and Darren Lockyer (2003 and 2006) as the only multiple winners.
His win is the fifth by a Storm player, adding to his 2007 success and those of Billy Slater (2008), Greg Inglis (2009) and Cooper Cronk (2016).
