An entertaining finish to practice at the Australian MotoGP saw Marc Marquez take Friday's honours.
Marc Marquez edged fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo in practice at the Australian MotoGP on Friday.
Yamaha rider Lorenzo, trailing Valentino Rossi by 18 points in the championship, appeared dominant early on at Phillip Island.
Lorenzo, winner in Australia in 2013, was fastest in the opening session but an entertaining finish to the second saw the top of the timesheet change regularly.
Marquez eventually edged ahead with a time of one minute, 29.383 seconds late in the second session.
Lorenzo was 0.05secs slower, with Maverick Vinales (+0.135secs) ending up third quickest for the day.
Andrea Iannone, Cal Crutchlow, Dani Pedrosa, Danilo Petrucci and Bradley Smith were behind them.
