Kidd-Gilchrist hurt as Hornets win in pre-season
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was hurt in the Charlotte Hornets' NBA pre-season opener, while the New Orleans Pelicans edged the Indiana Pacers.
A shoulder injury to forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist dampened the Charlotte Hornets' win over the Orlando Magic.
Kidd-Gilchrist was sent to hospital for further valuation after injuring his right shoulder during Saturday's 106-100 NBA pre-season victory against the Magic.
The 22-year-old, who signed a four-year contract extension worth $52million in August, left the game in the second quarter following a foul.
Kidd-Gilchrist posted four points, one rebound and an assist before the injury.
Recruit Jeremy Lin led the way for the Hornets with 17 points, while Jeremy Lamb (16), Nicolas Batum (14), Kemba Walker (13) and Cody Zeller also made it into double-figures.
A game-high 23 points from Andrew Nicholson was not enough to prevent a Magic defeat.
Meanwhile, in Indiana, the Pacers lost 110-105 to the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Pelicans were inspired by All-Star Anthony Davis, who tallied 18 points and eight rebounds.
All of Davis' point came in the first half.
Pacers star Paul George, who returned from a sickening knee injury last season, emerged unscathed and scored 18 points to go with five rebounds.
