Edwards: Defence key for Wales at World Cup
Wales' defence will be hugely important to their chances of success at the Rugby World Cup, according to Shaun Edwards.
Defence coach Shaun Edwards has emphasised the importance of shutting out England's "electric" backs as Wales eye Rugby World Cup success.
Warren Gatland's men meet hosts England at Twickenham on September 26, after opening their campaign against Uruguay in Cardiff on Sunday.
And Edwards knows his defence will come in for stern examination of its capabilities in a pool that also contains Australia and Fiji.
"We are playing against England who have just come off the Six Nations and scored more tries than any team ever has in the tournament, Australia have just won The Rugby Championship and Fiji are in strong form," he said.
"So it's a big test for us in defence, particularly the first game after Uruguay being England.
"England have scored the most points in the last two Six Nations so we are playing against a very potent attacking team who can hit you in all ways.
"They have some electric backs and play expansive rugby, but they can also go through the forwards with a mauling game. So we have our hands full."
Asked whether any England players had caught his eye, Edwards added: "All over the place. If you go through the forwards, Ben Morgan is an outstanding ball-carrier.
"If you look at the back line there's Anthony Watson and Jonny May. Jonathan Joseph is probably in the top three number 13s in the world at the moment and was the top try scorer in the last Six Nations."
