Dragons stand down Havili and Lafai after police charges
After two of their players were charged for their involvement in a fight, St George Illawarra Dragons have stood them down.
St George Illawarra Dragons pair Siliva Havili and Tim Lafai have been stood down indefinitely after they were charged for their part in an alleged brawl with a member of the public.
Havili and Lafai were reportedly arrested in Wollongong on Sunday morning after getting into a fight in a bar.
Both players are contracted to the Dragons until the end of next season, but will not feature for the foreseeable future.
A club statement read: "The St George Illawarra Dragons have determined to stand-down contracted players Siliva Havili and Tim Lafai, effective immediately and until further notice, from all club activities, for breaching the club's code of conduct.
"The club has been advised that both Havili and Lafai have been charged with affray and offensive behaviour by police, following an incident which occurred in Wollongong on Sunday morning.
"The NRL Integrity Unit has been informed and the club has arranged counselling for both players."
Lafai, 25, joined the Dragons this season, playing 16 games before being dropped to the Illawarra Cutters this month.
Havili, 23, played 10 games for the Dragons this year.
