Berry leads Chiefs to win in heartfelt homecoming, Brady makes history
Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry led his team past the Atlanta Falcons 29-28 in NFL action on Sunday.
NFL quarterbacks have been in a giving mood all season. That trend continued on Sunday with 24 interceptions and five fumbles committed by signal callers.
The biggest interception of the day was a "pick-two" by Kansas City Chiefs' Eric Berry in their 29-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
The Chiefs safety foiled a two-point conversion attempt by returning a Matt Ryan pass 100 yards to secure the victory.
Atlanta had just taken a 28-27 lead on a five-yard pass to Aldrick Robinson with less than five minutes remaining. But trying to increase that lead to three points backfired as Berry stepped in front of the pass and went the distance.
Berry's return was his second interception for a score on the day. He had a 37-yard pick-six in the second quarter to give the Chiefs a 20-13 lead. The Atlanta native then handed the ball to his mother.
Miami's Ryan Tannehill, Philadelphia's Carson Wentz and New Orleans' Drew Brees all threw three interceptions on Sunday.
Tannehill's Dolphins lost 38-6 to the Baltimore Ravens, Wentz and the Eagles went down 32-14 to the Cincinnati Bengals and the Saints lost 28-13 against the Detroit Lions.
Jacksonville's Blake Bortles also turned the ball over three times with two interceptions and a lost fumble in the Jaguars' 20-10 loss to the Denver Broncos.
The Seattle Seahawks crushed the Carolina Panthers 40-7, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers downed the San Diego Chargers 28-21, the Arizona Cardinals were 31-23 winners against the Washington Redskins, the New York Giants lost 24-14 to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Oakland Raiders trumped the Buffalo Bills 38-24.
Elsewhere, the Green Bay Packers accounted for the Houston Texans 21-13 and the Chicago Bears humbled the San Francisco 49ers 26-6.
AIR RAID
The Oakland Raiders rallied from a 24-9 deficit against the Buffalo Bills and took the lead on a 37-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to Amari Cooper. The Raiders never looked back.
The Chiefs also got a special teams touchdown on Sunday, with Albert Wilson's 55-yard run on a fake punt.
The Buccaneers also came from behind against the Chargers. The game-winner was a 12-yard pass from Jameis Winston to tight end Cameron Brate.
BRADY PASSES MANNING
New England's 26-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams was the 201st in the career of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who moved past Peyton Manning for most wins all-time.
The Rams' loss was the 164th defeat of Jeff Fisher, who is one loss shy of tying Dan Reeves for the most all-time. Reeves won 190 games with the Broncos, Giants and Falcons with a winning percentage of .535. He coached in four Super Bowls, but lost each.
Fisher is 173-164-1 (.512) with the Rams and Titans franchises, losing Super Bowl XXXIV to the Rams following the 1999 season. Fisher has just six winning seasons in 22 years and none since 2008 while still with the Titans.
The Lions held Saints QB Brees without a touchdown pass. That snapped an NFL-record streak of 60 consecutive home games with a TD pass.
CHIEFLY BERRY
"I shed a few tears before the game. I shed a few during the game and I shed a few after," Berry said of playing a regular-season game in Atlanta for the first time. "I think I held it together pretty good, but a lot of emotions, so I just tried to contain them and let them show through my play."
"Yes, I got you. You can just hold your horses. I'll be quick," Ravens safety Eric Weddle, who arrived at the podium ahead of coach John Harbaugh.
