Basso given all clear after cancer treatment
Following treatment for cancer, Tinkoff-Saxo rider Ivan Basso has been given the all clear.
Ivan Basso has been given the all clear after undergoing cancer treatment.
Basso was diagnosed with testicular cancer during this year's Tour de France, announcing his withdrawal from the race at a news conference on the first rest day on July 13.
The Tinkoff-Saxo rider felt pain in his left testicle following a crash on stage five, with subsequent tests revealing a tumour.
Basso underwent successful surgery to remove the tumour last month and his team confirmed on Twitter on Thursday that the 37-year-old would require no further treatment.
"Fabulous news on @ivanbasso! Results from final controls show no need for extra treatment. The dark period that started at @letour is over," they posted.
