Alex Smith threw his first touchdown pass to a wide receiver in almost two years but was arguably still overshadowed by Chase Daniel in the Kansas City Chiefs' win.

Daniel - Kansas City's back-up quarterback - finished the Chiefs' 14-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks with an eight-from-12 completion rate for 82 total yards and one touchdown.

Smith was 11-from-18 for 81 yards for one TD and one interception.

In the second quarter, Smith found Jeremy Maclin with a three-yard pass for six points and although the latter started in the backfield, it still counted as a TD throw to a WR - the 31-year-old's first in 594 days.

Smith would throw another touchdown on Friday but to the wrong man.

Seattle's Bobby Wagner was there in the second quarter to pick off Smith and take it to the endzone to give the Seahawks a 10-7 half-time lead.

But Daniel led the Chiefs on the only TD drive of the second half, feeding James O'Shaughnessy with a one-yard pass in the third quarter as the home side triumphed by one point.

The other game on Friday featured a lot more scoring as the New York Jets defeated the Atlanta Falcons 30-22.

The Jets asked "Geno who?" as two of their quarterbacks had big nights as Geno Smith sat out with the broken jaw he sustained when punched by former team-mate IK Enemkpali last week.

Ryan Fitzpatrick finished with 118 yards on 13-of-19 passing, with no interceptions.

Rookie Bryce Petty also impressed as he completed 12-of-19 passes for 168 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.

Atlanta QB Matt Ryan was nearly perfect in the limited amount of time he played.

Ryan completed four-of-five passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Impact Rookies
Petty had an impressive outing for the Jets, finishing with a 109.1 quarterback rating, while receiver Brandon Marshall looked good as well, claiming four receptions for 62 yards and a two-point conversion. 

In the same game, Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy finished with four receptions for 53 yards.

Hardy is continuing the success he had in college, although it will be hard for him to find too much playing time in Atlanta with Julio Jones and Roddy White starting ahead of him.

Chiefs tight end O'Shaughnessy did not have a huge impact, but he did score a touchdown. 

Sixth overall pick Leonard Williams had a solid outing for the Jets, finishing with 1.5 sacks, five total tackles and three tackles for loss.
