Mertens beats Kerber to reach Qatar Total Open Final
Belgium's Elise Mertens advance to the final with a three sets win against German's Angelique Kerber 6-4, 2-6, 1-6, 6-2 Qatar Friday in the second seminal of the tournament.
Mertens will meet in the final Simona Halep who advanced earlier today following a difficult win against Elina Svitolina.
Mertens' victory was the second time this week she has beaten a player in the top 10, having dispatched world number eight Kiki Bertens in the quarter-finals.
The Qatar final will be her sixth singles' career final and she has only lost one of those, in Turkey in 2017 to Svitolina.
