Bilić sacked with West Ham in relegation zone
Bilić sacked following 4-1 defeat to Liverpool
Premier League side West Ham have revealed that manager Slaven Bilić has been sacked following his sides 4-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday evening. One of the early favorites for the job is former Manchester United boss David Moyes, who remained tight lipped when asked about the prospect of managing the side.
The East London club confirmed the news via a statement on their website confirming that the Croatian coach who joined the club in the summer of 2015 had been moved on. In the statement, the club went on record to thank the work of the former West Ham player. "The Chairmen and board of West Ham United would like to place on record their thanks and gratitude to Slaven and his team for their services over the past two-and-a-half years, but believe a change is now necessary in order for the Club to move forward positively and in line with their ambition."
After guiding the Hammers to a seventh place finish in his season in charge, Bilić's side struggled with the move to the London stadium eventually finishing eleventh. A poor start to the 2017/2018 campaign put end to the former defenders tenure with the club, West Ham are now currently in eighteenth place picking up just nine points from the first eleven games of the season.
Adding to their statement West Ham noted an announcement on a replacement will be made quickly;" The Club’s search for a new manager to take West Ham United forward is underway and an announcement regarding Bilic’s successor is expected to be made over the coming days."
