Watson moves into Northern Trust Open lead
American Bubba Watson goes into the final round of the Northern Trust Open on Sunday with a one-shot advantage.
Bubba Watson holds a one-stroke lead heading into the last round of the Northern Trust Open after producing a four-under-par 67 on Saturday.
Having started the day tied for third at the Riviera Country Club, the American set the tone with a birdie on his opening hole, before carding a further four - as well as a bogey on the eighth.
Watson - the 2014 champion in Pacific Palisades - is aiming for a ninth career PGA Tour victory.
Countryman Jason Kokrak, who was the overnight leader, is Watson's nearest challenger a shot back after a one-under-par 70.
The 30-year-old carded four birdies, but two bogeys on the front nine and another on the back saw him surrender the lead.
Tied for third with Kokrak at 11 under is two-time runner-up Dustin Johnson (68) and Chez Reavie (69).
World number three Rory McIlroy (67) is one of five players a further shot behind.
American Kevin Chappell joins the Northern Irishman in tied fifth after an equal-best round of five-under-par 66, alongside K.J. Choi (67) and Australian duo Adam Scott (67) and Marc Leishman (68).
